Strengthening Cybersecurity Education: The Urgent Need to Integrate Maritime Cybersecurity into Cyber Programs

The maritime industry has undergone significant transformation as ships and ports have networks of digital systems which controls navigation and cargo tracking. Approximately 90% of global commerce trade travels by sea. The increasing connectivity of maritime systems and the threat of cyberattacks have made cybersecurity a priority for the maritime industry. Maritime cybersecurity is a critical component of global trade and security. This study aims to justify the inclusion of maritime cybersecurity in university cybersecurity curricula.
