The dualistic synergy between Artificial Intelligence and Business Architecture
Recently, organisations have been witnessing a proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) applications. This is because AI presents computational systems that can perform complex activities faster and efficiently than humans. However, even though AI brings many benefits to organisations, it also presents a challenge for organisations. One of the challenges is the lack of synergy between AI and business architecture (BA). BA is one of the domains of enterprise architecture, which aims to provide a holistic view of the business strategy and capabilities. Consequently, the lack of synergy between AI and business architecture contributes to the design and implementation of AI solutions that are not aligned with the overall objectives of the organisation, impeding organisational agility and responsiveness. This study addresses the following objectives: (1) to examine the synergy between AI and BA in organisations, and (2) to understand how the two concepts can be complementarily applied to improve business design and processes.
