Trends in Security Research: A Text Mining Approach

The rapid evolution of technology has heightened the need for robust security frameworks to protect sensitive information. As cyber threats grow in sophistication, academic research plays a pivotal role in addressing these challenges by developing innovative solutions. This project aims to uncover patterns and insights within scholarly articles on security and cyberattacks. Using text mining, we analyzed 315 research papers from leading journals spanning 1970 to 2024. Leveraging SAS Enterprise Miner, we extracted patterns, clustered themes, and identified significant trends in cybersecurity research. The results reveal historical developments, emerging topics, and publisher contributions to the field. By addressing challenges in data collection and clustering, this study provides a roadmap for navigating the vast security literature.
