Perspectives on current and emerging use of Generative and other AI models supporting multiple faculty roles
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially generative AI, is reshaping academia. While many faculty are concerned by the students’ unethical use of AI, both students and faculty find it a helpful tool that, if used properly, supports both learning and teaching. In this research, we conducted a series of interviews with the faculty from different colleges and majors in an attempt to determine how they adapt their teaching style to the new paradigm. We learned how faculty use AI to support their teaching, how they perceive the influence of AI on their students, and finally, what pedagogical strategies they follow in response to the increased use of AI by their students.
