Designing DARTS: A Unified AI System for Tutoring, Classroom Interaction, Assessment, and Student Success
Submission abstract: This second article in a three-part series presents the design and architecture of DARTS (Dynamic Academic Response and Tutoring System), an AI-powered, mobile-based Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) created to scale Bloom’s Mastery Learning. Built for mobile-first, low-resource learning environments, DARTS integrates real-time classroom data, SMS-based interaction, and natural language processing to deliver personalized tutoring, timely feedback, and formative assessment. This paper details DARTS’ system components, including its feedback engine, AI classifier, and NLP interface. Rooted in Bloom’s 2 Sigma theory and supported by cloud architecture and A2P 10DLC-compliant communication, DARTS transforms concept into deployable ITS. Future work will evaluate real-world outcomes across institutions.
