The Role Opf Cyber Risk, Trust, and Technology Readiness In The Use of E-Payment Systems

Over the last decade, digitalization has enabled consumers to migrate away from traditional payment systems based on cash and checks towards electronic payments, including e-money payments, card payments, and electronic fund transfers. But there are still groups of people who are resistant to e-payment systems. This study examined the role of perceived cybersecurity risk, trust, and technology readiness in the use of e-payment systems. The findings suggest that risk propensity, transaction-specific trust, system-specific trust, and technology readiness have a significant impact on the use of e-payment systems. The findings also suggest that risk propensity and technology readiness moderate the impact of perceived risk on the use of e-payment systems. However, the findings suggest that the impact of perceived risk on the on the use of e-payment systems is not significant. The study discussed different practical and theoretical implications of the research.
